My 1st post.....

So.... this is my very first post.  Blogging is something I have always wanted to do, but being a single mother of an 8 year old and working full time, well keeps me busy.  So I have decided to make it my New Year Resolution to blog and at least blog once or several times a week.

I am a single mom of a beautiful 8 year old.  The last 4 years I devoted my time as a mommy and running a shelter for domestic violence / sexual assault victims.  Well that ended about 3 months ago, when they lost funding, so I found my self at the ripe age of 47 years old seeking employment.  I am currently working as a server and actually making more money and working less hours than being a supervisor.  I own my house and had rented it out to pay my mortgage of where I was living. ( I since sold it). But now the problem my house I rented.... Ugh.... the carpet needs to be torn out, walls painted, the kitchen remodeled and the roof..., I don't even want to go there.  I have cleaned out the house, (oh did I mention, that when you rent, you are taking a chance of people destroying your property and leaving 20 bags of garbage in the house?... ooooo...ewwww... yeah... don't want to even think about it). Well I have the property cleaned and I am fixing to pull the rug up and put in faux flooring.  We will get to that later. 


I am going to blog on being a single mother and how single mothers still can save and be a Do It Yourself and on a budget... a limited budget (as you know most of us single mothers do not have much money and do not get our child support).  I will write about how I remodel my home on a budget, make homemade laundry soap, shampoo's, soap, and various other items, gifts, scrapbooking and just being a single mom.

Okay, I think I have wrote enough... I will be back at the end of the week, to start to show you what I am doing to my floors... I am doing floors for under a $150.00.  I hope they turn out well.  I will keep you posted.
